Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Slightly spoilerish. Especially if you haven’t read Sweet Evil.

Sweet Peril was one of my most anticipated for 2013. I adored Sweet Evil. The entire concept as a whole is fascinating and I have been DYING to get my hands on this.

When it comes to Anna, I agree with what most reviews had to say about her; she was too sweet, too innocent and just too.. GOOD. I didn’t really like her either. BUT. I liked her change here, she needed some bad in her life. Here, we find her doing her neph duties and doing the work of her papa. She still has her innocent and naive demeanor but she is starting to toughen up.

The plot was interesting. Although I wasn’t too big a fan on the writing here, with HUGE time jumps and the sole focus on Kaidan towards the end. Sometimes, this works. Here, it didn’t. For me anyway. I’m still conflicted on the whole prophesy thing. I just want someone to step up and DO something because they WANT to. Not because they were foretold YEARS AGO they may be the one. I like a good prophesy trying to figure it out and watching them fulfill it; but it’s just.. I’m over it.

I actually liked the romance here. I can see a lot of people NOT liking it because of Kaidan and his…sexual tendency’s, but he’s just a part of WHO he is. Kaidan has come along way too. He’s honestly trying to be better for Anna. As for Kope; I felt bad for the guy. I honestly never picked up on his feelings for Anna in Sweet Evil, until later- and I didn’t think it was necessary to throw in a love triangle. But it looks like he may be getting his soon. 🙂

Overall- Nice addition of the series! Although it does have the middle book feel and an unnecessary start of a love triangle, I really enjoyed it 🙂 Can’t wait for book 3!

I’ve been seeing this series a lot and contemplating if I should read it haha since I’m trying to shy away from romance for a bit I’m not too sure xP That’s good that Anna changed in the sequel, being all too innocent is good does get old fast. Great review!

There are some parts where the romance does over shadow everything else. So if you’re tryin to shy away from the romance, I’d hold off on this one 🙂
