Ella and Micha have survived tragedy and heartbreak. When they're together, anything seems possible. But now they are thousands of miles apart, and managing their long distance relationship will put their love to the test.
Ella is back at school, trying hard not worry so much about her future. But with her father in and out of rehab, she's having a hard time making it through the days. All she wants is Micha by her side, but she refuses to let her problems get in the way of his dreams.
Micha spends his days touring the country with his band, but deep down he knows something is missing. Being away from Ella is harder than he thought it would be. He wants her closer to him-needs her with him. But he won't ask her to leave college, just to be with him.
The few moments they do spend together are intense and passionate, but it only makes it more difficult when they have to part. They know they want to be together, but is wanting something enough to get them to their forever?
I really adored The Secret of Ella and Micha and I couldn’t WAIT to get my hands on this. As much as I wanted to love this one– I just couldn’t.
It’s been a few months since the ending of the previous novel. Ella is still in College, dealing with her insecurities and her.. issues. Micha is on the road with his band. Of course, all both of them wants is to be with each other. Told in both POV, we see both Ell and Micha struggle with their own problems, as well as with their feelings for each other.
I love Jessica’s writing! She sure knows how to snag us readers, create troubled characters and sweet romance and some hot and sexy scenes. Let me tell you–the angst was off the charts here.
I thought that Ella had done a lot of growing in the first novel. Here, it seems like she has done a complete 180. I know she has issues, we are repeatedly show this– but it was like all that progress she made when down the drain. She does have some means to her issues, her dad and brother treat her like shit and DO blame her for her Mother’s death. I just hated how she kept pushing everyone away. Micha.. He is still the sweet, charming guy we were initially drawn to. His dedication and love for Ella is remarkable, sweet and “swoon”ish. (yes, I said swoon)
Honestly… I feel if this one were cut in half the book would have been a solid 5 star. The constant back and forth between the two became very redundant. It was a constant push, pull, have sex, push, well.. you get the idea. When they were together, it was awesome, sweet and you could feel the love between the two. BUT. There was always this.. wall. Had they just sat down and talked to each other instead of avoiding their issues and having sex all the damn time, their issues would have been resolved. If not–at least brushed on, sooner. They are one of my favorite couples, maybe this is why I was so irritated. I just wanted them to be HAPPY.
Their friends, Ethan and Lila, are so supporting and awesome. I swear, these two were the solid, strong rock that both Ella and Micha needed. I honestly don’t think these two would have made any headway in their issues, had Ethan and Lila not intervened.
Overall- I really enjoyed it. I adore these two! I just feel that had the back and forth been dramatically cut, it would have been so much better. I am anxiously anticipating the next book, The Temptation of Lila and Ethan. YES!
